Why import contacts?
Campaigns in EmaReach are sent to contact lists. You can build those lists by importing contacts from a CSV or Excel file (e.g. from your CRM or a spreadsheet). Go to Contacts in the sidebar, then use Import to upload your file and map columns to EmaReach fields.
Step 1: Prepare your file
- Your file should have one row per contact and columns for email and any other fields you need (e.g. first name, last name, company).
- Email is required; other columns are optional. Supported formats: .csv, .xlsx, .xls. Maximum file size is typically 10 MB.
- If you are unsure of the format, use Contacts → Import and download the example CSV from the import page to see the recommended structure.
Step 2: Start the import
- In EmaReach, go to Contacts (sidebar).
- Click Import (or Import contacts).
- Choose Upload file and select your CSV or Excel file, or drag and drop it. The app will read the first rows and show you the detected columns.
Step 3: Map columns
- You will see a mapping step: your file’s column headers on one side and EmaReach fields (e.g. Email, First name, Last name, Company, Industry, Location) on the other.
- For each EmaReach field, select which column from your file should map to it (or leave blank to skip). Email must be mapped.
- Confirm and continue. You may be asked whether to add contacts to an existing list or create a new list; choose one and give the new list a name if needed.
Step 4: Save and review
- Click Import or Save. EmaReach will process the file and add the contacts to the selected list.
- You may see a summary (e.g. how many imported, any errors). Fix any errors (e.g. invalid emails) in your file and re-import if needed.
- The new or updated list appears under Contacts. You can now select this list when creating a campaign.
