When you import contacts from a CSV or Excel file, column mapping tells EmaReach which column in your file corresponds to which contact field (e.g. Email, First name, Company). Your file might use headers like "Email Address" or "E-mail"; mapping links those to EmaReach’s Email field so contacts are imported correctly.
After you upload a file in Contacts → Import, EmaReach shows a mapping step. You will see your file’s column names (from the first row) and a dropdown or list of EmaReach fields for each.

You do not have to map every field; only Email is required. Map only the columns you have and care about.
Mapping links your file’s columns to EmaReach fields. Always map Email; map First name, Last name, Company, etc. only if your file has those columns.
